Tenor, John Heuzenroeder is a member of the Ensemble at the Cologne Opera. John studied at the Victorian College of the Arts in Australia and received his Master of Music from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2000.  He enjoys exploring and performing a very broad range of operatic and concert repertoire from styles throughout the classical western musical tradition.

 

Recent highlights in 2023 include ARNALTA in Monteverdi's L'INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA in Wuppertal and the role of BOB BOLES in Britten's PETER GRIMES in Augsburg. In 2022 he performed include his first KNUSPERHEXE in Humperdinck's HANSEL AND GRETEL in Hannover and sang with the WDR Rundfunkchor works from Francis Poulenc und Lili Boulanger. He sang the role of LOGE in the Cologne Opera's condensed Ring cycle and Mime (Das Rheingold) at the Bregenz Festival (2021). Also in 2021 John had his debut at the Philharmonie in Berlin singing the tenor solos in Stravinsky's CANTICUM SACRUM under the Baton of François Xavier Roth with Les Siècles and he presented Schubert's cycle DIE SCHÖNE MÜLLERIN with pianist Felix Hornbacher in Rosenheim (Bavaria). In 2019 John's HERODES (Salome) in Köln was very well received as was his CD of Mozart's Masonic Music released by the Scandinavian Label, BIS.

 

Currently John is donning a few frocks not only singing ARNALTA, this time in Köln but also NUTRICE, DAMIGELLA and PRIMO FAMIGLIARE in Tud Huffmann's flamboyant production of POPPEA conducted by George Petrou.
